WELCOME KINDERGARTNERS

  2009-2010

 We look forward to a new and exciting year in first grade.  We would like to share some information that we hope will be beneficial.  This information is being shared with you in advance so that you may make purchases early and be better informed. 

 
Listed below are the supplies and materials needed to start the year.  We encourage parents to purchase the supplies during the summer so that you can bring them on the first day of school.  Thanks for helping us in advance.

 

 SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR EACH STUDENT

Each family is requested to provide the following supplies for their child at
registration on August 17 at 5 PM:
  • Box of 8 Large Crayon-Basic Colors (No bold or glitter crayons)
  • Package of Basic Colored Markers
  • Loose-Leaf Construction Paper (Not in Tablets)
  • 1 Large Bottle of White School Glue
  • Water Paints
  •  4 Large Primary Pencils
  • 2 Boxes of Facial Tissues
  • 1 Box of Baby Wipes
  • 2 Box of Disinfectant Wipes
  • 1 Box of Small Ziplock Baggies (Sandwich Size)
  • 1 Box of Large Ziplock Baggies (Gallon Size)
  • 1 Roll of Paper Towels
  • 1 Bottle of waterless antibacterial hand sanitizer
  • 2 Pocket Folders without middle seam
  • 1 Clear or Mesh Backpack (The backpack should be large enough to hold books and folders. Please do not purchase backpacks with rollers.)
School Costs: Parents are requested to pay on August 17

  • Weekly Reader $5.00 (Please make check payable to Pi Beta Phi Elementary)
Parents: Please put your child’s name on all supplies, jackets, and lunch boxes with a permanent marker.

Kindergarten registration: August 17 at 5 PM. Parents will receive information about curriculum, scheduling, kindercare, and other related topics. K students will not attend on Monday, August 17. One-third of the students will attend on August 18 with another one-third on August 19 and with the remaining one-third on August 20. All K students will attend on Friday, August 21. Kindercare begins Monday, August 24.

We are involved with the Parks as Classrooms Project, which involves several fieldtrips in the National Park during the year.  In addition, we will be  participating in walking fieldtrips.  You will receive additional information about these trips during the school year.
