Website Viewers,

I welcome all viewers to the Pi Beta Phi Elementary website.  It is a privilege to be principal of this community school in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains.  The school was established in Gatlinburg, Tennessee as a settlement school by the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity in 1912.  The Fraternity is a philanthropic organization of women that historically has focused on excellence in education and literacy.

As we move rapidly toward a century of uninterrupted educational service to the community of Gatlinburg, we strive to continue the mission of the founders in 1912 which is to provide excellent educational experiences and opportunities for our young people.  We want our students to have quality programming that will prepare them for high school, college, and careers.  We want our students to experience the relevance of utilizing the vast natural and cultural resources of the nearby Great Smoky Mountains as we implement the State of Tennessee and Sevier County curriculum frameworks.  We value our students having a variety of relevant experiences with our basic thrust being the mastery of the Tennessee core curriculum.

We respect the essential educational partnerships of students-parents-teachers.  The responsibilities of parents in supporting the best educational programming for their children are bedrock American values.  Parental expectations for high student achievement and acceptable, personal behavior greatly influence the outcomes for our students.  Stewardship as evidenced by student involvement in the community reinforces the preparation that is so fundamental in producing good citizens and leaders for our country and our world.

I am confident that our school website with continuous updating will be an excellent source of information about our programs, events, activities, and staff.

Mr. Glenn Bogart
